Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Parcelio ("we," "us," "our," or "Parcelio") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights regarding your personal data. By using Parcelio, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: your name, email address, and password (which we store in hashed form)
  • Usage data: your searches, saved buy-boxes, saved searches, and other interactions within the Service
  • Technical and log data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, timestamps, and referring URLs
  • Communications: emails or messages you send to us through our support channels

3. Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not collect or store your full credit card details. Stripe handles all payment processing and retains your payment information according to their own privacy policy and security standards. 4. Cookies and tracking

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in and hold your place while you use the Service. The app cannot work without it. It lasts 30 days and stays when you close your browser, so you remain logged in on that browser until you log out or the 30 days run out. Logging out deletes it.

If your account uses two-step verification, we set one more cookie, called jbtrust, after you enter a correct code. It lets that browser skip the code for 30 days (6 hours for admin accounts). We keep a record of it on our side with your browser type, and you can remove every remembered browser at any time from Account, Security, Forget trusted browsers.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages and features get used, so we know what to improve. We run it without cookies: it stores nothing on your device, your IP address is anonymized, and Google Signals and ad personalization are turned off, so what you do here is not used to build an advertising profile. It still records things like the pages you visit, your rough location (city level) and your type of device and browser. We do not send your name, your email, or anything you type into the site to Google. You can block it with any standard content blocker and the site works the same.

Advertising. Some pages carry an ad from Google AdSense, shown only to signed-out visitors and free accounts. Every paid plan is ad-free everywhere. Today those pages are our county pages, our learn articles, our calculators and a few marketing pages. There are no ads on the home page, the pricing page, or anywhere in the map.

Ads work differently from our analytics, and we would rather say so plainly. AdSense sets cookies on your device, and Google can use what you do on other sites to choose the ads you see here. California law calls that sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can turn it off for your browser on our Your privacy choices page, and we honor Global Privacy Control automatically. Section 13 has the details.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and improve the Service
  • Process your subscription payments and manage your account
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
  • Send service-related announcements and updates
  • Analyze usage patterns to enhance user experience
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and protect against fraud or illegal activity

6. Data Sources

The property parcel and tax assessment data displayed in Parcelio is compiled from county records and federal sources. This data is not collected from you personally but rather is sourced from county records and third-party data providers. We do not combine this parcel data with your personal account information except as necessary to deliver search results and features you request.

7. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not trade or rent it. Pages with ads let Google use browser identifiers for advertising, as Sections 4 and 13 explain. Otherwise we share your information only with:

  • Service providers (such as Stripe for payment processing) who are contractually obligated to keep your information confidential and use it only to provide services on our behalf
  • Law enforcement or government agencies if required by law, court order, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others

8. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We retain usage data and log data in anonymized form for analytics and system improvement. If you wish to delete your account or request that we delete your personal data, please contact us at support@jbparcel.com. We will comply with deletion requests within thirty days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

9. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including encryption of data in transit using HTTPS, hashed password storage, and restricted access to systems containing personal data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

10. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete such information immediately.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service following such notification constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

13. Your California privacy rights

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you specific rights over your personal information. This section explains them and how to use them.

Selling and sharing. We do not sell your personal information for money, and we never have. We do share it for advertising: on pages that carry Google AdSense, identifiers from your browser and your activity can be used by Google to choose the ads you see. California calls that sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, whether or not anyone pays for the data. Paid plans see no ads, so nothing is shared for advertising on a paid account.

What we collect. The categories are in Section 2: identifiers such as your name, email address and IP address; commercial information such as your subscription and payment history; internet activity such as the pages you visit and the searches you run; and approximate location at city level. The only sensitive personal information we hold, as California defines it, is your account login (your email and a hashed password), and we use it only to let you sign in.

Your rights. You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, where it came from and who we shared it with; to delete it; to correct it if it is wrong; and to stop sharing it for advertising. We will not treat you differently for asking. Your price, your plan and your access do not change.

To stop sharing for advertising. Use the Your privacy choices link at the bottom of any page that carries ads. It turns ads off in that browser, so our pages stop loading Google's ad code and Google sets no ad cookie through them. We also honor Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends it, ads are off for you on every page without any other step.

How to use your other rights. Email support@jbparcel.com from the address on your account and say what you want. We answer within 45 days and will tell you if we need longer. If you are asking for someone else, say so and we will ask for proof that you are authorized.
